Westlake has a long standing relationship with the North Shore Squash Club, which has seven top quality courts.

Trainings and home matches are held at the club. All teams compete in an interschool competition across Auckland, in various grades accommodating different abilities. Matches are played on either a Monday, Wednesday or Friday after school, depending on the grade, from 4pm. The interschool Auckland competition is played in Term 2 and runs for approximately 8-9 weeks. The National Championships are usually held in August.

Our squash programme caters for all levels of players, from a few social teams to two teams in the Premier competition. As players advance up the ranks, the demands of training increase. The Premier team is currently coached by a very talented parent, Manu Yam, who is a professional coach based on the North Shore at the Belmont squash club.

Our Premier teams are currently made up of 12 dedicated players, who compete at a high level in local and national competitions.

The New Zealand Secondary School Championships is a highlight for Westlake squash every year and involves competing against the best secondary school players in the country. This tournament is an extremely hard fought, but enjoyable experience for all of the boys and is something they look forward to all season.

Squash has a very proud and distinguished tradition at Westlake. Since the National Championships were instituted in 1985, Westlake has won the Premier title eleven times, including three consecutive years from 2015 to 2017; an achievement un-matched by any other school. They were also Auckland Champions for four consecutive years from 2014 to 2017.
