Bobby began rowing while he was a student at Westlake Boys’ High School between 2004-2008, and since leaving school he rowed with the Auckland Performance Squad. He is a North Shore Club rower and was selected to represent New Zealand last year at the World Under 23 Championships in Lithuania, where his crew gained a Bronze medal.
Bobby was selected for the New Zealand summer squad last August, which requires him to live in Cambridge and train each day with Rowing New Zealand.
After the Nationals this February, Bobby was selected to be in the NZ elite squad, rowing in the New Zealand four at this year’s World Cup (a series of three). The first was held in Sydney where Bobby’s four placed 3rd gaining a Bronze medal. The next is at Eton Dorney, London from 21st to 23rd June and the third one at Lucerne 12 to 14 July. Bobby has also been awarded the Auckland Tertiary Rower of the year, by Auckland Rowing.
