Sports Headlines 2010:
Welcome back to another exciting year in sport. Already we have seen some outstanding competition involving our students and staff. It is indeed incredibly motivating to work alongside such a committed staff and student body. Of course the parents and supporters of Westlake are also included in this as they do a brilliant job behind the scenes.. Here is a brief summary of some outstanding results achieved already this year and also from the end of last year.
Sailing
Chris Steele secures his second World Championship.
Racing off Takapuna Beach in January Chris has won the Splash World Championships. Two yeras ago in Argentina he won the World Optimist Championships.
Chris then went on to finish 3rd in the NZ Starling Nationals sailed in Tauranga.
Cricket
Feb 13 Results;
1st XI lost to St kents, 2nd XI beat Papatoetoe 1st XI, 3rd XI beat Albany Senior High 1st XI
Premier Colts had a 1st innings win over Mt Roskill, Colts 2 defeated Kristin, Colts 3 lost to Kristin
Feb 20 Results
1st XI defeated Sacred Heart by 112 runs
Rowing
Another busy period has seen all our crews training hard. Mr Salmon the Rowing master reports that there have been some very good times set already by the senior 8 crews.
Feb 13 Head of the Harbour
The Westlake senior 8 retained the Head of the Harbour trophy in fine fashion beating AGS.
All fours crews at U15,16,17,18 won their races. Westlake again winning the shield for the top boys school in Auckland.
Volleyball
In the NZ Beach Nationals Ronnie Hellesoe and Max Longdill cane 2nd in the U15 age group. Late last year they won the Auckland Title.

Golf
Our number one player Cameron Jones finsihed 3rd equal in the North Island U19 championships. He fired a 3rd round 69 the best score on the final day. Cameron also just missed qualifying for the NZ Open in Queenstown.
