INDOOR VOLLEYBALL AT WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL FOR BOYS

SENIOR PREMIERSHIP VOLLEYBALL TERM 1

With the senior training underway prior to the start of Term 1 the students were ready for another successful year playing volleyball.  With Greg Vukets (winner of Junior Contribution of Volleyball CUP 2014) leading the team our competitive games start in February 2014 .

We are very lucky to have the senior premiership team coached by John Howard (Coach of the Junior 2013 National winners) and Westlaker, ex New Zealand representative, Grant Bindon

They will lead the team towards the 2014 Nationals held in Palmerston North held at the end of March with the help of Westlaker Simon Connelly.  The Senior premiership volleyball team consists of:

  • Ashton Howard
  • Greg Vukets
  • Adam Talma
  • Bruce Xiao
  • Tim Faimao-Magele
  • Aleksa Sibinovski
  • Dru Fenton
  • Jacques Pretorius
  • Callum George
  • Luka Urlich
  • Logan Hunt

Prior to Nationals the boys will be training twice a week at 6:30am, their North Harbour games will be Monday evenings and their Premiership games take place Friday evenings.  In addition to this the boys will partake in a seeding’s competition on March 14/15th for Nationals, Auckland Champs 6th-8th March and will also be host to Tauranga boys for an exchange 10th and 11th March.

SENIOR B AND C TEAM

The senior B and C team will also train once/twice a week with Carl Razon and Alison Hamp coaching and Penny Weakley managing.  They will have Wednesday night College Sport Games.  From here a second Senior team will be selected for Auckland Champs on 6th to 8th March.

We wish these boys every success in 2014.

JUNIOR PREMIERSHIP VOLLEYBALL TERM 4

Following the success of Junior North Islands in 2013 the Junior team will have a hard job trying to match this in 2014.

Although many Year 10s will be included in the Senior Development team (coached by Miss Hamp and managed by Mrs Weakley) junior trials, training and games for Year 9 and 10 will start in Term 4.  We hope to have approximately 3 or 4 junior teams aiming for one to attend Auckland Champs and North Islands in December 2014.
