Benjamin Tan - Head BoyThe decision to come to Westlake was the most important and rewarding decision of my life. Our school is filled with many opportunities and strong competition-perfect conditions for any boy to succeed. As well as a passionate and proud school culture, there is a diversity of activity which is astounding. We are always encouraged to reach personal bests and the challenge is to follow the ‘Westlake Way’. To have the courage to do the right things makes Westlake a truly special place. |

Nathan Davenport - Deputy Head Boy and Sports CaptainThe Westlake sports programme is definitely one of the leading programmes of its kind in New Zealand schools. There is a very wide range of sports accommodating any boy who has an interest in sport. At Westlake, we have a very dedicated team of staff members who coach and manage our sports teams. Through my chosen sports, Rowing and Rugby, I have had the opportunity to compete at local, regional and national level. I am grateful to Westlake for providing me with these opportunities and also helping me to maintain my studies whilst competing for the school. |

Jeffrey Mei - Academic Council Captain/Form 7The dual pathway and enhanced streaming system at Westlake ensure that students are surrounded by others of their ability group. The Academic Institute offers extension work for gifted students, and also the opportunity of sitting their external exams early; likewise, the extensive Learner Support and Peer Tutoring schemes are available for struggling students. The Academic Council is made up of students from all levels and abilities and provides a student voice to ensure that we receive the best education possible. |

Dan Konia - Cultural CaptainDuring my time at Westlake, I have seen culture grow far beyond expectation. The Kapa Haka group which is a combination from the girls' and boys' schools has started to succeed in regional competitions. In addition there are many other interhouse cultural activities, especially the Haka competition which is a spectacle displaying brotherhood and unity. There is no doubt that Westlake culture will continue to succeed for many years to come. |
