Reporting at Westlake


There are three main types of report issued at Westlake Boys High School. They are:

Progress Report:

Issued in Term 1- this report is issued in the first 7 weeks of term 1. It aims to give an indication of how the students have started the new academic year. It reports on academic progress, effort and homework.

Mid Year Report:

There are two different types of report issued in term 2.

The senior students (5th-7th Form)

The report gives an exam result from the recently completed mid -year examinations. The report varies between NCEA pathway and CIE pathways.

The NCEA pathway

The overall result is recorded using the grades Not Achieved, Achieved, Achieved with Merit, or Achieved with Excellence. Within each grade a Low, Middle or High range of marks is indicated on the report. The report also gives place in subject and effort grades. The report includes a comment from each of the subject teachers.

The CIE pathway

The overall result is recorded as a percentage mark. The CIE report also gives place in subject and effort grades. The report includes a comment from each of the subject teachers.

The Junior students (3rd and 4th Form)

The report gives an exam result from the recently completed mid -year examinations, it also includes place in subject and effort grades.

The grade on the report is a percentage mark. There is no written comment on this report. The students overall class rank appears on the report.

End of Year Report:

Senior Students

These reports are issued in Term 3 immediately after the senior end of year exams. The report gives an exam result from the recently completed End of Year examinations, it also includes place in subject and effort grades. There is no written comment on this report.

Junior Students

These reports are issued in Term 4 the overall result is recorded as a percentage mark. The report gives a place in subject and effort grade. The report includes a comment from each of the subject teachers. The students overall class rank appears on the report.
