Rosmini travelled up the hill to take on Westlake in the Auckland One Day semi-final. Westlake won the toss and elected to bowl first, hoping that the characteristically slow outfield would make it difficult for Rosmini to determine a par score on the ground. The decision proved to be the right one with Westlake restricting Rosmini to 126/6 after their 50 overs. All of the bowlers were exceptional with line and length although Matthew Thornton returned the best figures of 2-17 from his allotted overs.
Unfortunately Westlake’s chase got off to the worst possible start, losing both openers within the first 2 overs. Rosmini bowled well and wickets continued to fall as Westlake finished on 83 all out. It was a hugely disappointing way to end the one day campaign. Having beaten Rosmini on two previous occasions this season, Westlake would have backed themselves to come up with a win. However, credit must go to Rosmini who dug deep and, in the end, outplayed Westlake on the day
