Richard Stevens

Westlakers Westlakers President Richard Stevens commenced his Westlake years in 1971 and finished six years later in 1976 after completing a year as an AFS Exchange student in the United States. Rick sat behind Mike Stanley in the Westlake senior eight rowing crew of the mid 70’s that achieved credible 3rd and 2nd placings in the Maadi Cup. Westlake went on to win the hallowed “Maadi” the following year when Rick was no longer in the boat!

Rick’s two sons, Fraser and Logan both attended Westlake , played 1st XV rugby and are staunch “new generation” Westlakers. In 2010, Logan became the inaugural recipient of the Westlakers Red Blooded Award (his Dad wasn’t on the judging panel!).The Westlakers Red Blooded Award is presented at Graduation Dinner each year to the school leaver who, as judged by his peers, has shown the most Westlake character, passion and spirit throughout his time at Westlake. Award recipients have included Logan (2010), Alex Perigo (2011) and Robin Fricke (2012).

Richard and Logan StevensOver the past decade, since eldest son Fraser started at Westlake, Rick’s involvement as a Westlaker has been second to none. He has given generously of his time and expertise – as one of a handful of Old Boys instrumental in the revival of the Westlake Old Boys Association (renamed Westlakers in 2007); a committed student mentor; tour fundraising parent; Jubilee Committeeman and most recently, as Westlakers President. Wherever there is Westlakers activity, Rick and his Westlaker sons are never far away. Westlake is very grateful for the exemplary, ongoing support and commitment of the Stevens family Westlaker trio.
